T&T Update

                       May 2007

Theme for 2007:...  "My portion is the Lord, says my soul; therefore will I hope in Him"       Lamentations 3:24

Thanks for the Support

The last TVeee episode featured “The Man By The Standpipe”.  What fun we had at the filming.  Thanks to all who came.  The alloo pies and phoulourie afterwards weren’t bad either.

Thanks also to those who supported Laventille Devotions.  Isn’t it wonderful when God’s people gather?

CLPs  in the Household

Has your unit held a Christian Life Program recently?

If not then there may be hungry souls out there who don’t know the “good news”  about a community rooted and abiding in Jesus called “Couples for Christ”.

Don’t keep that on your guilty conscience.  Get together with your household members, or even combine with one other household.  A sk your unit leaders for copies of the “Household CLP Talks”.  There are six talks available on CD or on paper.  With the Holy Spirit’s guidance decide which of your members will deliver each of the six talks.  A lready you have the basis of the Household CLP!  Decide whose home you will use and on which dates.  Have each household member invite 3 or 4 participants. Of that number 6 or 7 may turn up.  Don’t be discouraged, - Rejoice!  Bring refreshments and over six weeks deliver your “household CLP”.  You can do two talks per night and reduce the time to three weeks.  The point is that you will be fulfilling Jesus’ commandment to “make disciples”; the work of evangelizing is taking place.  Go on be brave. “Fear not for I am with you” says the Lord

SFC Retreat

The pictures on our website should be proof enough.  The SFC Retreat was a wholesome and eye-opening experience of deepening our prayer.  Fr. John Theodore led the line-up of speakers and words are not enough.  God has truly blessed this man with a gift of ministering.   Winston Garcia was among the last speakers and what an exhilarating close.  Thank you to the A rouca Unit and Fr. Rodriguez for guiding us to deepening our spirituality.

Soup Lime

A light and relaxing way to spend a Friday evening – at least for the guests.  But for the Sangre Grande Unit it was work that was done with a generous spirit and yielded much reward.  There was cow heel soup, pumpkin soup, corn soup, smoked bones soup, soup with names we’ve never heard of.  A nd as if that wasn’t enough, there was fish broth and souse.  Then there was the pepper sauce.  A aaah, don’t you want some now?  There was……… okay we’ll stop for now.  Don’t forget that our next lime is on Monday 18th in Curepe.  See below for details.

Pastoral Formation

Unit Leaders Training has been ongoing and it is tremendously rich and rewarding.  The participants have been learning, asking, listening and getting answers.  Please continue to pray for them that they may better minister to you.

“Dey didn’t ask me.  Nobody eh tell me nutting”

Does that sound like anyone you know?  Could it be you (heaven forbid) who says “deh didn’t ask me. ”,  “Dey have dey people for dat.”,  “Nobody eh tell me nuttin.” , “I eh know nuttin ‘bout dat.”   Ooops!

Well we apologise for all the people who didn’t tell you “nuttin” but we are telling you now!  The work of building the kingdom requires “labourers in the vineyard”.  Your parish needs you, your church needs you and CFC needs you.

You have been called.  You have been chosen.  You are the “people” of whom scripture says “a chosen race, a royal priesthood”.  So let’s step up to fulfill our calling.  There are many opportunities to do so in CFC.  Evangelisation, Pastoral Formation, Work with the Poor, Youth, Communications, Helping on Retreats, Tithing, Intercessory Prayer.   Come on man, pick up the phone and call, ask if they need help.  Don’t wait for them to ask you, and ask you, and ask you, and ask you.  You are the one empowered by the Holy Spirit to bring the “Good News” of the kingdom.  Your imperfections are made perfect in the service of God.  Don’t let the evil one hold you back because of past guilts and insecurities.  You are a “new man” (or woman).  Old things have passed away.  Let the “new creation” that you are, shine forth in service.

We are getting ready.  Please pray for the conference team and participants.

Goodbye to Jonathan and Erika

Our missionaries Jonathan and Erika have come to the end of their mission in Trinidad .  It has not been an easy task to give up a year or three of your life for full time service to the Lord.  But these two young people have exemplified the willingness to which the gospel calls us.  A s they leave us in June we thank them profusely for living with us and loving with us.  May God continue to richly reward your work in St. Maarten.

leads to an  endless hope.
3. A lot of kneeling will keep you in good standing.

4. He who kneels before God can stand before anyone.
6. Don ' t put a question mark where God puts a period.
